Arnel Amar rules July 2010 Chess Tournament

Arnel Amar ruled the July 2010 Edition of the monthly chess tournament held at the Alex and Al Cafe and Snackhouse last June 17-18, 2010. Fresh from winning the Pingpong Tournament early this month, the King of table tennis crowned himself King of Chess for the month of July as well. Deonato Petinglay played a beautiful mating combination with the black pieces to topple erstwhile leader Von Steven Aquino to place second. Von Steven Aquino finished solo third. A total of 16 players participated.

Belison holds chess tournament

The Municipality of Belison, under newly elected Mayor Darrel dela Flor, successfully held a chess tournament last July 10, 2010. The Kangaroo inter-barangay Chess Tournament was held at Diokdiok Recreation Center, Poblacion, Belison, Antique. Edzel Jerome Pagunsan and Edgar Arzaga emerged as co-Champions. 14-yr. old Jessalyn dela Gracia was the best female player. 10 year old Leonard del Rosario received a citation as the youngest participant. Among those present during the awarding were Hon. Mayor Darrel dela Flor, Engr. Regino del Rosarion III, Mr. Nepthali Gravoso, Kagawad Ruben Balbuena, Mr. Nonie Ballarta, Mr. Voltaire Pagunsan, Mr. Siyoy Barcenal, and Mr. Nonette Delima. We hope that other municiapal officials of other towns in Antique would follow the lead of Mayor Darrel dela Flor in helping promote chess in Antique in support of the Dep Ed memorandum on integrating chess in elementary and high school. Congratulations!

Open Chess - July 2010 Edition set on July 17-18, 2010

The July 2010 Edition of the monthly open chess tournament is set on July 17-18, 2010 at the Alex and Al Cafe and Snackhouse, Sibalom Antique. This is open to all interested players. One hour play to finish, 5 round Swiss system format. No registration fee.

Arnel Amar wins Table Tennis Tournament

Arnel Amar won the 1st Table Tennis Tournament held at the Pingpong and Chess Center of Sibalom (PACCS), at Alex and Al Cafe and Snackhouse, Sibalom, Antique. Arnel Amar won an exciting finals match against John Mark Grasparil in 5 sets. Hope Obsiana edged Junie Bacho to placed 3rd in another exciting match. 20 players participated. Next tournament will be on November 2010.
