April Edition Tournament

The April Edition tournament of the Monthly Chess Tournament will be on April 5-6, 2008. A mini program will start at 8:00 am, Saturday, April 5. Games will start at 9:00 a.m. The tournaments will 5 rounds Swiss system. Please register at Alex and Al Cafe and Snackhouse, 4-S.A. Lotilla St., Sibalom, Antique. This is open to all interested chess players. Only the first 32 players to register will be accomodated.

First Quarterly Youth Tournament

March 4, 2008 --- The first Quarterly Youth Chess Tournament will be on March 8-9, 2008 at Alex and Al Cafe and Snackhouse. This tournament is open to all chess players age 18 and below. Must bring any valid certification as proof of age. Only the first 32 players to register will be accomodated. Five rounds, swiss system and one hour to fininsh. Jun Trayfalgar wins March 2008 Sibalom Chess Open


March 4, 2008 --- Nelson "Jun" Trayfalgar Jr. wins the March 2008 Edition of the Sibalom Chess Open. Jun bested 13 other players with four wins, one draw and no loss record. Second place went to Nick Contreras. Third Place went to Edwin Leabriz and tied for fourth to sixth place were Joselito Castro, John Mark Grasparil and Titong Magbanua.

2008 Sibalom Chess Open March Edition Results






March 4, 2008 --- The March 2008 Edition of the Sibalom Chess Open was again held successfully. Fourteen chess players joined the tournament held on March 1 - 2, 2008 at Alex and Al Cafe and Snackhouse. This is the fifth edition of the series of monthly tournament sponsored by Alex and Al Cafe and Snackhouse.


The winners for the March 2008 Edition is Champion -NELSON TRAYFALGAR, JR., Second - NICK CONTRERAS, Third - EDWIN LEABRIZ, Tied for Fourth to Sixth Places are JOSELITO CASTRO, JOHN MARK GRASPARIL, TITONG MAGBANUA. The April 2008 Edition will be held on April 5 - 6, 2008.


On March 8 - 9, 2008, there will a Youth Tournament open to all players age 18 and below.

Antique Chess Society

The Antique Chess Society was conceived to bring chess enthusiasm in Antique into its highest level. The Antique Chess Society envisions itself to be one of the catalysts in bringing life back to chess in Antique. It aims to serve the chess players in Antique and give them the attention they so long deserve. The Antique Chess Society have its main headquarters at Alex and Al Cafe and Snackhouse located at 4- S.A. Lotilla St., Sibalom, Antique.

The Antique Chess Society holds a monthly Chess Open Tournament every first weekend of the month. This is open to all interested chess players and with a 5 round swiss system format.

The Antique Chess Society also holds a Quarterly Youth Chess Tournament. This is open to all players 18 years old and below. This also a 5 -round swiss system format.

The Antique Chess Society also holds the Antique Chess Masters Tournament. This is open to players who played at least 30 games of the monthly chess tournament.

Other tournaments may also be held depending on the availability of sponsors.
