May Edition Open Tournament set on May 8-9, 2010

The May 2010 Edition of the monthly open hess tournament is set on May 8-9, 2010 at the Alex and Al Cafe and Snackhouse, Sibalom, Antique. The tournament will be played in a 5-round Swiss system, one hour play to finish format. No registration fee is required.

NM Rhobel Legaspi visits chess club

NM Rhobel Legaspi visited the Antique Chess Society headquarters last April 18, 2010. He conducted a chess clinic for our young players. NM Legaspi led the Antique chess team to a decent finish in the just concluded Povincial Chess Team tournament. The local chess players received valuable tips on how to improve their games. The 29 year old chess master is from Belison Antique but spent most of his life in Metro Manila.

John Mark Grasparil wins April 2010 Edition

John Mark Grasparil scored a perfect 5 pts after five rounds to win the April 2010 Edition of the monthly open chess tournament held at Alex and Al Cafe and Snackhouse, Sibalom, Antique. Second Place was Edwin Leabriz with 4 points. Tied for 3rd and Fourth places with 3 points were Deonato Petinglay and Alan Mosquera. Tied for fifth place were Apolonio Fadrigo and Dennis Gille. Atty. Hector Frangue, who sponsored some of the prizes, graced the awarding ceremony.

NM Rhobel Legaspi heads Antique chess team in inter-province

NM Rhobel Legaspi heads the Antique chess team in the ongoing inter-province chess turnament held at Kalibo, Aklan. NM Legaspi is from Belison, Antique but now resides in Metro Manila. The other members of the team are: Von Steven Aquino- Board 2, Miguel Descalzo - Board 3, Nelson Trayfalgar Jr. - Board 4 and Lou Vincent Baculna as alternate. The team received a financial support of P10,000.00 from the Provincial Government through Governor Salvacion Perez, Vice Governor Dodod Cadiao, and SP Member Fernando Corvera, Chairman, Committee on Sports.
