Belison holds chess tournament

The Municipality of Belison, under newly elected Mayor Darrel dela Flor, successfully held a chess tournament last July 10, 2010. The Kangaroo inter-barangay Chess Tournament was held at Diokdiok Recreation Center, Poblacion, Belison, Antique. Edzel Jerome Pagunsan and Edgar Arzaga emerged as co-Champions. 14-yr. old Jessalyn dela Gracia was the best female player. 10 year old Leonard del Rosario received a citation as the youngest participant. Among those present during the awarding were Hon. Mayor Darrel dela Flor, Engr. Regino del Rosarion III, Mr. Nepthali Gravoso, Kagawad Ruben Balbuena, Mr. Nonie Ballarta, Mr. Voltaire Pagunsan, Mr. Siyoy Barcenal, and Mr. Nonette Delima. We hope that other municiapal officials of other towns in Antique would follow the lead of Mayor Darrel dela Flor in helping promote chess in Antique in support of the Dep Ed memorandum on integrating chess in elementary and high school.
